Why The Circle Exists

Scent changes how a space feels.

It can soften a long day, bring back a memory, or turn an ordinary moment into something you notice.

You don’t need a candle.

But you do deserve small moments that belong to you — a room that smells beautiful, a memory tied to a scent, a pause in the middle of everything else.

The Refill Circle was created for people who believe scent isn’t just decoration.
It’s part of how we experience our lives.

How the Refill Circle Works

One candle to begin.

Your first box includes a full candle and a small room spray — so the scent you love can travel with you.First Box Shipts April 5th to 8th

After that, refills arrive for your vessel.

Each month, you’ll choose between two scents for the one that comes next.

The scents are created exclusively for Refill Circle members and are not offered in the shop.

A new vessel arrives in your seventh month, so your candle always burns safely and beautifully.


What’s inside every candle:

Coconut–soy plant wax
Perfumer-grade fragrance oils
Cotton wicks

No paraffin
No petroleum byproducts
No parabens
No phthalates
No lead or zinc

What Arrives in Your First Box

Your first box includes:

  • A 10.5 oz SouthShop candle, double-wicked, in a ceramic vessel
  • A 5 ml room spray so the scent can travel with you
  • A seasonal fragrance created for the Circle
  • Care and scent cards

This first shipment begins your vessel — the jar all future refills are designed for.

Member-Only Scents

Every fragrance released through the Refill Circle is created exclusively for members.

These scents are not offered in the shop and are produced only for the Circle.

Throughout the year, fragrances evolve with the seasons:
brighter in spring,
fresh and vibrant in summer,
warm and grounding in autumn,
deeper and more atmospheric in winter.

Caring For Your Candle

Trim your wick to ¼ inch before every burn.

Burn for at least 2 hours and never more than 4 hours at a time.

Keep your candle away from drafts or unstable surfaces.

Extinguish the flame fully before placing the lid back on.

Stop burning when ¼ inch of wax remains in the jar.

Things People Ask

How do I choose my scent each month?
Before each shipment, you’ll receive a link where you can choose between two scent options for the month ahead.

What if I forget to choose a scent?
If no selection is made, I’ll choose one for you so your shipment isn’t delayed.

What if my candle jar breaks?
If your vessel breaks, you can receive a replacement after your third month in the Circle. If it happens earlier, replacement vessels can be purchased individually at southshop.us.

When will I be billed and when does my box ship?
Billing happens automatically each cycle. Your shipment is prepared shortly after your billing date.

Are Refill Circle scents sold in the shop?
No. These fragrances are created only for members and are not offered outside the Circle.

Where are SouthShop candles made?
All candles are hand-poured in small batches at my Suffolk County, Long Island studio.

My candle changed color. Why?
Natural ingredients can shift in color without UV stabilizers. It may tan or darken near the end, but performance stays the same.

My candle has white crystals or frosting. Is this normal?
Yes. Natural soy wax reacts to temperature changes. It’s only aesthetic and doesn’t affect burn or scent.

My candle has a black rim. What should I do?
Trim your wick after every burn. Long wicks can cause soot by throwing off the balance of flame and wax.

My candle arrived broken. What should I do?
Email daniela@southshop.us right away and I’ll make it right.

Can you make favors for my event?
Yes. Email daniela@southshop.us with details and I’ll reply within 24 hours.

Can I exchange my candle if I don’t like it?
Exchanges aren’t available yet. Each order includes a scent sample so you can experience the fragrance before opening your candle.

I received a gift card. Can it be exchanged for cash?
Gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash.

I received a candle as a gift. Can I exchange it for money?
No. Any approved return goes back to the original form of payment. Purchases made with a gift card return as store credit.

Membership & Billing

Monthly Membership
$35 per month. Billing happens automatically each cycle and includes one shipment per month. Shipping is paid separately.

Shipping Schedule
The first Refill Circle box ships between April 8th and April 12th. After that, shipments arrive around the same time each month.

6-Month Membership
Pay for six months upfront and receive one month free plus complimentary shipping on membership shipments. This plan is prepaid and non-refundable.

12-Month Membership
Pay for twelve months upfront and receive two months free plus complimentary shipping on membership shipments. This plan is prepaid and non-refundable.

Canceling Your Membership
Monthly memberships can be canceled anytime through your account. Cancellation will stop future billing and shipments.

Prepaid memberships can also be canceled anytime, but refunds are not issued. Your remaining shipments will continue through the prepaid term and the membership will not renew afterward.

If a prepaid membership that included complimentary shipping is canceled and a refund is issued as an exception, the cost of the shipping that was originally waived will be deducted from the refund.

If a membership is canceled after a shipment has already been processed or delivered, the cost of that shipment will not be refunded.

Automatic Payments
Subscription payments are processed automatically each billing cycle. If a payment fails or your card declines, the system will continue attempting to process the payment until the issue is resolved or the subscription is canceled.

Please make sure your payment information is current. SouthShop is not responsible for overdraft fees or other bank charges that may occur if a payment is attempted without sufficient funds.

Purchases Made With Gift Cards
Orders paid with a gift card cannot be refunded for cash. Any approved return will be issued as store credit.
